Health and Care
Adults
Our Parents = Our Pets
Our dogs are family and are always with us. They cuddle with us on the couch, sleep in our beds, and take walks with us in the woods.
Care
All of our pet parents receive their yearly vet wellness examinations, and are always up to date on their vaccinations. Every day our dogs have their fur brushed with a comb and slicker brush to prevent matting. They also have their teeth brushed daily with Pet Smile toothpaste which is approved by the VOHC. They also have their nails trimmed, and recieve a weekly bath, where their fur is brushed thoroughly.
Genetic Testing
All of our pet parents go through genetic testing which includes CDDY/IVDD, and CDPA.
What is CDDY and IVDD
Canine Degenerative Disc Disease (CDDY) is abnormal cartilage and bone growth that starts to degenerate and calcify the cartilage discs of the spine. This can start in dogs as young as a year old, and only one copy of CDDY is needed to put your dog at risk. CDDY leads to an increased risk of your dog developing Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). This means a disc in the spine has had a herniation or rupture which may cause your dog to have irreversible spinal cord damage. This causes your dog to have symptoms such as pain, trouble walking, and paralysis (which makes the dog unable to use the bathroom on their own).

Hip Testing
All parents are hip tested with good results. Having a good score means your dog is far less likely to get hip dysplasia. If you would like to know any of our Dams or Sires scores, please look at their individual page.
Exercise and Mental Stimulation
Poodles are a dog breed that are made for action, and need exercise to stay healthy and thrive. Our poodles get their daily exercise by playing tug with us, going on their daily walks, and running in the backyard. Along with exercise, we want to work their minds, and provide them with different options. We do trick training, food filled Kongs, and give them many different things to chew.
